Ming Chew has over 20 years of wide-ranging professional experiences that includes statutory audit, transaction reporting for IPO, share registration & IPO processing, internal audit, risk management, IT/cybersecurity advisory, operational risk and control review, financial due diligence, management consulting and corporate governance advisory.
He is currently serving a wide range of private & public listed companies; and multi-national clients for their outsource internal audit needs. These clients operates in varied industries including financial services, property development, engineering & construction, plantation, manufacturing, hotel & leisure, oil & gas, furniture, food & beverages, retail, pharmaceutical, logistics, information technology, and non-governmental organisations. Ming Chew is also actively involved in providing corporate training on governance, ERM, business continuity, cybersecurity and corporate liability to companies of various sizes from public listed to small & medium enterprises. .
Ming Chew was previously a holder of the Capital Market and Services Representative Licence (CMSRL) issued by the Securities Commission of Malaysia (“SC”). As a CMSRL holder, Ming Chew has undergone regular AML trainings as well as conducting internal control assessments on AML/CFT compliance for companies regulated by the SC, BNM and LFSA.
Ming Chew has also led his teams to execute internal control assessment of companies seeking IPO on Bursa Malaysia and Singapore Stock Exchange, and also conducted reviews and assessments on the state of corporate governance compliance for public companies listed on Bursa Malaysia. In those engagements, he has provided practicable solutions towards achieving compliance with the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance.
He started off his career in external audit in year 2001 with a local firm and has pioneered the setting up of the internal audit outsource services in year 2005. The services were initially carried out under several different companies which eventually evolved into NGL Tricor Governance Sdn Bhd (“NTG”), a joint venture company with Tricor Malaysia, in which Ming Chew served as its Managing Director between the years 2013 and 2020. NTG is a consultancy practice specialising in providing independent assurance and consulting services for corporations that requires cost effective and immediate solutions for their governance, risk management and internal control needs. In year 2020, Ming Chew was appointed as one of Tricor Axcelasia’s Executive Director, responsible for internal audit and pre-IPO internal controls assessments, following the acquisition of the entire share capital of NTG by Tricor Axcelasia.
During the intervening years, Ming Chew was appointed as the Executive Director of Equiniti Services Sdn Bhd (now known as Tricor Investor & Issuing House Services Sdn Bhd), a company principally involved in the business of share registration and IPO processing, between the years 2010 and 2012. He was responsible for the overall financial and operational management of the company.
